  • An appraisal provides you with factual data regarding the value of the property.
  • Real Estate brokers and agents get commission paid based on the price paid for the property - the more you pay for the property, the more commission they make.
  • Generally you will need an appraisal done to obtain a mortgage when purchasing a home. If you enter into a purchase agreement and are overpaying for the property, the appraisal you get done may not come in at the value you paid for the home.
